I'm trying to figure out if the murderer is trying to make us think they live where it snows, or if they actually do. The "blizzard like conditions", at least to me can only mean snow, so if that is the case we probably can rule out some people. On the other hand, could smog be considered "blizzard like conditions"? I understand California has a lot of that.
As for me, I don't get in my car in "blizzard like conditions" anymore period! I've experienced too many such drives when I had to get out to go to work, so the murderer's comment being "the other day" definitely rules me out.
I'm going to safety vote for SilverWitch because I don't know where she lives, so she could have experienced the blizzard "the other day".

Well from the memo we know two things: the boss is old enough to drive and lives in a climate that gets snow.
We should be able to eliminate a few people based on this.
Safety vote for Bradon (who mentions "shoveling snow"as an occupation).
Maybe the dog only brings the ball back because he thinks you like throwing it.

I'm a Cali girl as well. But the word choice doesn't confirm that where the boss lives has snow, like Bradon said. I'll check back in later.

Sorry to disappoint, mocha, but I don't have a car, personal or rental or otherwise.
I feel like we could assume the Boss actually lives in an area with snow since s/he specifically said "drive home" and "didn't get home until". If you were trying to be sneaky and allude to, say, a vacation or business meeting, then it wouldn't make a lot of sense to use the word home.
Safety for mocha for now.
Edit: rethinking what I said. Business trips or faraway vacations might not be plausible, but could be a college student returning to (parents') home, someone taking a trip back to where s/he grew up, etc.

I agree there are a few that can be temporarily cleared due to the snow answer. That said, I'm not sure of who lives in snow climates, is old enough to drive, and works.
For now, putting in a safety vote for HABS.

Question, are player-created voting lists still used? It's been two years since I last played lol.
I have no problem with players creating voting lists, but keep in mind, with the game not showing actual votes, there's no way to tell if all are telling the truth. And of course, the boss and rat don't actually vote.

Well I think the boss kinda narrowed it down for us.
The boss lives someplace where it snows and they drive, they also are the one in the family who clears the driveway.....SO either:
They are a man and head of household
an older teen (however unliky due to the boss taking 2-3 hours to get home and they arrived at 5 from work)
a single person who has all house duties (
someone like myself, single mom) I however am not the boss.
It was very cold here last week but no snow since 12/6/13 and that was not a blizzard but there was over 5 inches of snow on ground.
I have voted RGW....I do not recall where he lives but I knw the North East United States had a blizzard last week as ESPN will not shut up about the weather in New Jersey.
In my opinion the boss is rather inexperienced at being the boss. The psych was very lengthy and had a lot of details in narrowing it down.
EDIT:
I have been looking up weather and we CAN NOT exclude those in Cali. They had a snow storm last week in northern cali.
The list of those who could be the boss is actually rather small:
Nad-unknown location
RGW-Cali
Mocha-Cali
Froggy-Cali
Silver witch-Cali
Bradon-New York
Habs-Canada
4Demo-Cali
In all honesty I do not think it is Habs or Bradon....I do not think either of those would have answered the question with so much detail.

Sure sounds like the boss lives in a cold climate to me, oen that is experiencing a lot of snow this year (of course that is the entire east coast of N. America. It has been stupid cold here and we have got a lot more snow than normal).

Psych Question: Snow
Such a bother! I SO hate shoveling. And the roads? Let me tell YOU! Ugh! It normally takes me 30 minutes to drive home. And the other day, I got in my car at 2:26pm and didn't get home until 5:43! Mind you, it was blizzard like conditions and the traffic was GOD AWFUL! Boy, did my butt hurt when I exited the vehicle! So snow? It's not my friend, that's for sure!

Actually reading what HABS reposted from the psych it does not say work....it says got in my car at 2:26 and got home at 5.....that is actually the time teens get out of school, if it was a week day.
That then adds a few peeps, however....Traffic implies a place with ah igher population, espically when the boss states it normally takes 30 minutes to get home......That means they either live in a diff town than they commute to or they live in a congested area. Traffic in large cities is usually not too bad on weekends so this leads me to think the boss was refrencing a weekday in the psych.
So we have a teacher or a teen IMO.
We could also have someone who does not work......but then why schedule something around work times and traffic? Most peeps that do not work do not do things during traffic times....just a thought
So to add to my eariler list that would mean Slamm is possibly in the mix (Penn) and Firefox99, not sure where they hail from or their age but they have a teen icon...
Slamm is actually a good choice. The only thing that deters me from her is the length of the memo....I think Slamm would be a little more obtuse in her answer

I think we can eliminate slamm (add I think nad) based solely on the driving answer . I know for sure Slamm is not old enough to drive and I don't think Nad is either. IT is a well known fact that I do not drive for medical reasons and while I do work I work from home so no commute there anyway. I don't need to shovel, I pay a ridiculous amount in condo fees every month to have someone shovel for me.
With the weather being as screwed up as it has been this year, it is harder to eliminate anyone based on where they live. Sure I live in Canada but there are areas of Canada that would shut down if they got more than a half inch of snow. And areas of Callie do get snow too.
I think for now the driving comment is our best clue. As well as LH pointed out, the length (and detail) of the memo suggests a newer player.

I'm really hung up on "blizzard LIKE" conditions. could that mean something other than snow? Murderer didn't say "blizzard conditions" but "blizzard like" conditions. Maybe I'm getting too picky, but that could be the key.
I live in a small city, but there are times when we have traffic jams (ie: a basketball game or concert at the local college located just outside of the city) where you wait in traffic for quite a while, not hours certainly, but 10 to 15 minutes, and since it's not an every day happening, it could be considered God awful to some. However, no basketball game or concert recently, so "the other day" doesn't fit here.
BTW, mocha is a teacher... just saying.

Not necessarily, it would depend on the size ofthe city. Where I live, even without traffic it would take at least 30 minutes to go across town, more if you get unlucky with the lights or get stopped by a train at one of the (way too) many level crossings we have.
The boss did say they left for home at 2:30 (ish) so if he (the universal "he" and not a slip) works he has a job that has atypical "business" hours. If it is a student, they have a car - not sure how that helps though - everyone I knnew as a teen had their own car. I am sure there are still many who do.
Kids are still here (well one is) but she will be going home in about 30 minutes -then a quick pop to the store for some supplies and I'll be in for the rest of the evening.

Well, mostly because the wording concerning snow is extremely vague. From my viewpoint, I can only be sure that the boss has seen snow, and has shoveled it (and drives but that's not being argued now). Of course, it may very well be that the boss is familiar with snow right where s/he lives, but you know, just in case. I won a game as boss last I played because several players eliminated me as a possibility when they thought the boss was really experienced at the game.
And yup, I'm aware of all that, Snowy. I was just wondering if voting lists were still something players liked to use haha.
It would be nice to get a majority for a clear, right? If it helps, I live in SoCal. But I am at the age where I can get a license, I just haven't gotten it yet.

LOL....well 8 players as a list of suspects is a lot better than 14 ( i say 14 as i know my role).
I was unsure of Slamm's age...I know she is a teen but did not know 14,15,16??? Can't rememebr.
Nad is NOT a kid unless he has his B-day in Comp wrong as in his Braingle profile it pulls up a grey adult, not a kid or teen person.
Though i put peeps into the list there are a few who have a very low chance of being boss.
To answer the question of age.....I am old enough to drive, have been for a while. I live in Tulsa OK. We get snow. I HATE SNOW!!!!! I used to love it until some sad things occured in my life during the very first white Christmas I ever had, took a lot to get back into liking Christmas, but snow Last snow we had here was 12/5/2013. We had a little bit towards end of December but not enough to measure. During last snow storm, snow and ice still on the ground on 12/10/13 and my car slid into the one in front of me and did $2000 worth of damage.
I only live 1.25 miles from my job it takes me 10 mins to get to work....with traffic
I have to shovel my own driveway as i am not about to see the damage that my 5 year old could do with a giant metal shovel. LOL
Tulsa is a relativly large town but even then with the freeways and such with no traffic it takes about 20 minutes to get from one side of town to the other.....and I used to live in Los Angeles......even a town like that I could go from the mountains to the beach on a Saturday in about 40 minutes where as on a weekday with traffic it took about 1 hour and 45 inutes to make the same trip.

I live in a decent sized city (350,000 - 400,000 depending on the time of year (with both a university and college in town, the pop swells during the school year) but we don't have an expressway or even a ring road so it is tedious to cross town.
I actually don't mind the snow I don't even mind the normal winter temps we get (-10 to -15 C) but this winter we have had wicked cold days with temps with wind chills as low as -30C to -40 C.
I did drive from the age of 16 until I lost my license at 32 but have no driven since.

I have only skimmed above and will write more later since it is my prep and I have things I should probably be doing, like preping for tomorrows classes.
I just wanted to correct some statements about me before people make too many incorrect assumptions.
A) Yes, I am a teacher, but never leave here until 40 on a good day, but could leave as early as 2:15 with the students
B) I live in Eastern WA where normally we have plenty of snow this time of year, but as I said in round 0, have had pathetically little recently... (however "the other day" is a phrase I sometimes mistakenly use remembering things from last year or the year before, so don't rule me out based on my recent weather)
C) Normally I am outside shoveling the sidewalks alongside my husband if there is enough snow to warrent shoveling. This year has been different because a) we got a snow blower that my husband loves using and b) being pregnant earns you at least a small reprieve from manual labor.
D) Oh, and yes I do drive, and even in my average sized city, I have a 20 minute commute that in December turned to 2 hours in fresh fallen snow (silly people, acting like they are from Seattle or California )
I'll actually read the comments closer after school today! Oh, and I have put a safety vote on 4demo which will likely change due to the psych answer. I am more than willing to join a majority for someone since that is the best way to find the boss... but don't want to upset anyone by putting them at risk, so if people could state something to that effect about if they are willing to be in a majority, that would be great (or I might end up making you mad, which I would hate!)

HABS, I am old enough to drive. However I am not old enough to have enough driving experience for my parents to be comfortable with me driving alone in the type of weather the boss described, if that makes sense.

I'm all for any majority especially in Round 1. Not particularly upset if I get fired this early, and since RGW4 hasn't shown up yet, I'll change my vote to Bradon for now.
Though there is still tons of time left, as of now there are enough people who have not stated a vote to potentially cover any lemmings.

Longhorn, I'm on the East Coast, not in California. I don't really like giving out my specific location, but I've seen about a centimeter of snow total this winter (and don't drive anyway ).
The departure/arrival times listed in the answer are probably not super-helpful either, now that I think about it. My parents typically work until about 5, for example, but sometimes leave a couple of hours early if the weather is bad or expected to get bad really soon. It's very likely the Boss had a similar situation.

I'm 13.
The prompt definitely helps us. I say we get a majority on one of the legible players and go from there

I don't drive, the only car I have is a model one, it's tiny but ti's still a car
The memo definitely limits the possibilities and I'm open to joining a majority
Vote on Bradon at the moment, subject to change if a better target comes up

Those are pretty specific times. Anyone who saw the picture of my "only one colour allowed per brownie" Mini M&M Brownies knows I am anal enough to note it down to the minute what time something happened, but not sure who else among us is. most people would say "about 230" or "around 545" not be so exact...
The boss does say he hates shoveling, so I think we can forget about the suggestion the boss encountered snow on a trip of some sort (business or otherwise) I have never done menial tasks like shoveling on a business trip or holiday. They have a concierge or maintenance staff to take care of that anywhere I have stayed.
Not sure what to make of the April Fool's Day nonsense at the beginning, but it may be useful later.
Still maintaining that our boss is a bit older, as Nad pointed out though he can drive he doesn't drive in bad weather. I think most of the younger players (but those old enough to drive) are in similar circumstances unless the own their own car.

I got in my car at 2:26pm and didn't get home until 5:43!

I showed up about a half hour before the round started... then I had to go to work in the Los Angeles area. Overcast, but no snow.... I haven't had to drive in snow since last century (dang that makes me sound old)... I even mentioned in round 0 that we are experiencing water shortage... snow is something that helps that shortage go away.
Safety vote for Jayo right now... just to be sure I have a vote in. Got some plaster dust in my eyes today while busting holes in the ceiling for some recessed lights... it makes me tired!
Edit - voted confirmed...
and by the way Skybet, please, never say you made a safety vote without stating who you voted for... unless you are the boss or rat and want to mess up the thinking of others!

We have 12 hours.
I would say I am cleared... So I am going to stay out of the majority to not get fired. As for the others who fit the prompt, you should get a majority going.

Sorry for the double post. I'm going to vote for Longhornfan for now. She fits the prompt at first glance.

I live near San Diego in California, where the weather is mild all four seasons not to mention never snows, and I'm not old enough to drive yet. I don't think the boss is a teacher as teachers usually get off work up to two hours after students are let out. Additionally, the boss doesn't seem to be a student either; 3 hours seems awfully a lot to drive just from school back home, despite the blizzard; besides, if the blizzard were to cause that much trouble, wouldn't school be closed that day? Anyways I'll be staying out of majority vote.

Okay, maybe I'm really over thinking this but the murderer said:
Such a bother! I SO hate shoveling. And the roads? Let me tell YOU! Ugh! It normally takes me 30 minutes to drive home. And the other day, I got in my car at 2:26pm and didn't get home until 5:43! Mind you, it was blizzard like conditions and the traffic was GOD AWFUL! Boy, did my butt hurt when I exited the vehicle! So snow? It's not my friend, that's for sure!
The wording could be open to interpretation: they stated although it normally takes 30 minutes to drive home, but I've heard ]people say the drive home when they were a passenger, not necessarily the driver since they said I got in my car and didn't get home until...and the fact that they said "my" car could mean the family car.. The statement "when I exited the vehicle" both driver and passenger would "exit" the vehicle. They also said they hate shoveling, not they hate shoveling snow. You can shovel dirt. What do you all think?
Anyhow, I have no problem being cleared. and although Sky and Firefox didn't say who they were voting, it would appear we will not have any mandis.

MDCT... I liked your thinking about the bike, but the way the prompt was worded started with I got into my car at 2:26... when they got out their butt hurt. Sadly, they were only in their car for about 3 hours... I actually tend to think this is a young person.
When I was 18 and just out of high school, I was already signed up to go into the Navy and so right after high school and with about a month of "freedom", I drove to Iowa and Montana to visit family members and to see the sites along the way. My first day on the road, I drove almost 24 hours straight... not much to see in the deserts of California, Arizona & New Mexico anyway...
I had no problems sitting for a long period of time... and 3 hours is not a long time. Once I was married, my wife insisted we stop about every 3-4 hours for a while to stretch her legs to walk around. I usually stood by the car waiting to move on.
I thought I would just point this out, you can take from it what you want, or leave it at the curbside.
Second edit... I guess after I wrote this it dawned on me, that I had a job when I turned 16 to be the delivery driver at a flower shop... and I did that from about 1 PM to 5 every day... so I spent a lot of time in the driver's seat... got used to it. If you aren't used to sitting in the driver's seat, I guess you could get tired sitting in that chair! Just an after thought

Erm.. firefox and sky need to vote, unless they are the boss and rat!
fear my cuteness.
fear my cuteness.
So we are at three possible situations, not necessarily exclusive.
1. Boss made the mistake of clearing too many people thorough the info given in the memo.
2. Boss worded the memo carefully to mislead us into clearing too many people.
3. Boss has lied in the discussion.
In any case, I'm not all too comfortable with how many would-be clears we have
For a rat-proof majority, how many more votes in the majority do we need?
Never mind, I believe total is nine, and if no mandies, then firings will show.

I suppose that is a possibility but unlikely. I don't recall ever referring to someone else's car as "my car" even before I had my own. If for some reason I had one of my parents' cars I would say 'my dad's car' or 'my mom's car' or I suppose 'my brother or sister's car' was also a possibility. Of course that may be because n identifier was necessary as we all had cars?

I will agree with this, but why are you so adamant that the boss was not behind the wheel?

Not that I need it, but this is further proof it is not me. People who play with me regularly know I don't lie in the discussion (other to say "I am not the boss" or if I am the rat about who I think the boss is). I obviously use misleading (but true) statements in the discussion if I am boss. I'd rather win by "outsmarting" my opponents than by deceit.

HABS, I started out my post saying "Okay, maybe I'm really over thinking this", but I 've played this game with some of you enough to know that if there is a way to manipulate wording it will be done. In fact you are one of the master manipulators. I'm just trying to cover all the bases here and think outside the box, as they say. I know I am most likely wrong, I usually am, but I am trying.
Slammn, you are all over the place, beginning to sound more and more like the Rat to me.

It is because people can lie in game that my list does not say cleared, just self cleared. I, too, try my hardest to not outright lie about myself in game. I guess that is why I put myself as a potential.
I'll change to bradon to help with the clear.

That's no majority. Someone should change to bradon, so we have a majority. Actually, we need at least 3 more bradon votes to make it solid in case the boss and rat are among the people saying they will vote bradon.

True, there is in fact no way to clear anybody in this game other than if they were not fired. As Har often says, you cannot even fully clear someone based on a stated vote. The rat will outright lie, and another player may forget to vote pr may claim a vote and forget to tell us of a change. I tend to believe what people say, you get to know people and know whether or not their stories remain consistent.
Maybe the dog only brings the ball back because he thinks you like throwing it.
It is because people can lie in game that my list does not say cleared

I would say they wouldn't be on a bike if it was below zero and snowing. Also I think he boss is leading us to believe that they are driving not being a passenger.

And the butt hurt thing.. could be a bike, but exiting scratches that. I agree with Bradon, but still voting her.

It almost sounds as if both firefox and skybet voted but neither disclosed, and of course they can not disclose now ... so if they have a vote, they sure could mess up the game if they created a third small majority. Though the majority on Bradon is not a clearing vote, there is enough to show it as the single option for firing... short of mandies.

IT would be better for us if they voted. While we can't definitely clear based on the boss's firings, we learn nothing at all from mandatory ones.
