Year raged through the night, unleashing death, terror and despair in a maniacal dance through the village. The villagers scattered and hid, trembling anew at each greedy roar of the waves as Year ravaged all they held dear. Year took all and Year left nothing. At long last, the waves subsided as dawn slowly cast its gaze across the ruins of the village. Slowly, fearfully, villagers emerged from hiding, looking around hopelessly at the broken remnants of their homes. Slowly, painfully, they begin their new year as they had for as long as anyone could remember...mourning their dead and rebuilding their lives for another year.

TOPIC: SNOW
DEATH: Ahhhh snow. It is not my favorite time of year, but as a kid I did enjoy playing in the snow. We would build snow camps and have snowball fights. I love the first snow of the year when all the trees are covered in the white stuff and it is all sparkly. It is so pretty.
TERROR: snow is white and cold. snow reminds me of Christmas cards. snow makes good snow cones that taste good when I am hot. dont eat yellow snow
DESPAIR: Quiet calm serene peaceful. Can imagine world at peace. Causes frustration anxiety damage stress long time to get places slide off road. Driving car bad tires snow on road stopped at light almost there bus coming through light car slide into bus bus sliding to me bus bus bus coming at me brace slide squeal close eyes hold breath wait no sound open eyes bus stopped breathe deep. No more bad tires on snow roads.

I don't believe the round timed out, but everyone has been on line so thats no help. I'm sad to see jtolley and Hadleigh go. What are the chances the computer chose a wolf to shoot. I will await the psych's before makig any assumptions.

Good morning. I agree, the night didn't quite time out, but it must have been close. And to respond to your question, Cinn, I've been in games where the computer has picked a wolf over a human several times, as well as the opposite. I was also in one game where the computer picked a wolf in the very first round. So I'd have to say it is truly random. I don't think anything is to be learned from past experience, in my opinion.

What a poopy start to the game. We lose jtolley and Hadleigh. My only hope is that jtolley was a wolf. I hope we're told either way.

Nope. I don't tell ya nuthin.
A quick comment about Despair's answers: In general, I think you can assume that all of Despair's comments are about Despair and Despair's personal thoughts and experiences. The ruling is that as long as there are three sentences, and it contains at least something personal about you (your opinion, thoughts, experiences, etc.), wolves may frame their answer however they like: riddles, crypto, foreign languages, etc. In this case, Despair has chosen to go the Gertrude Stein route*. As long as Despair meets the basic criteria for the answers, that's kosher with me (demo is right, I viewed that cell phone answer as three complete thoughts expressed with poor punctuation, and ran with it). Try reading it as gertygertysteinstein and let your mind wander between the lines. It's kind of a fun brain stretch.
A comment to Death, Terror, and Despair: in past games, some players have complained (with some justification) that certain psych answers are so generic as to be true of anyone, or that they contain big holes so that wolves can easily manuever around them. Some of the answers I've been given in this game are skirting the edge of that a bit. It doesn't bother me personally as much, because if a psych answer can't be used to pin you down, it also can't be used to clear you so I don't think it's such a huge advantage in the end. BUT as mod I've got to regulate this stuff so here goes: I'm going to allow some leeway and let the vaguer answers slide for a bit, BUT I am also going to step in very quickly if it gets too loosey-goosey, or if I see folks contradicting their psych answers. And yes, as the mod, I claim final authority on what constitutes "loosey-goosey."
*my personal interpretation. Despair did not tell me that that was Despair's goal. Please do not read anything into my statements, there. Just me being fanciful.
Happy hunting!

Ok - here are my thoughts.
Death - lived where it snowed as a child, not not necessarily now, as an adult. (froggy comes to mind)
Terror - doesn't sound as if this player lives where it snows.
Despair - Sounds younger, and is still learning how to deal with snowy roads.
Will give this more thought later. Got some clothes to fold, and a frig to clean out. Oh, what fun. . . . .

Despair has taken a very interesting path with answers. Sounds almost like a writer, or someone who aspires to become a writer, telling a story and is apparently describing an incident from his/her life. I definitely agree with Snowy's ideas on Death and Terror, so now I need to do some digging into wikis and public pages.

Death talks about playing in the snow as a kid so we know s/he is grown up now. I'm wondering if we can clear Randy from being death because I recall he had to answer a similar question in the past when he was a wolf or the boss. Does anyone else remember which game this was?

Playing in the snow as a kid, doesn't necessarily mean they grew up in an area where it snowed. They could have visited a snowy place, when they were young. Any thoughts on this?

I wouldn't be so fast to assume that Death is necessarily an adult, since even a younger person could refer to being a "kid" to indicate an earlier part of childhood. Despite being a teenager and for most intents and purposes still a kid, I think I could pretty honestly use "kid" to refer to my seven-year-old self if needed. By the same token, I think it's fair to say that while Death most likely is an older person, it would be unwise to conclude that and exclude anyone by the age standard alone.
Despair has mentioned difficulties / dangers associated with both texting and driving and with driving in the snow. Since this 'theme' has occurred twice, I'm somewhat more inclined to think that Despair is somebody who drives relatively frequently or maybe has had some sort of car accident (although it would take a pretty thorough background investigation to determine that).

Jpaw, that would be game 1515 where Snow was the psych clue there too...
I think I can only be cleared as Death - you had to grow up in a snow area to have snow camps (?? - forts?) and snow ball fights. I have taken part in a couple snow ball fights when we went to the mountains, but never set up camps - seems like a lot of work but fun. This person must have grown up in an area that snows often to be able to experience the first snow of the year.
Terror could be anyone... very vague but the answer did stated a point - doesn't necessarily say if the person lives in or lives around it, but has at least been in it to know it is cold (I think it would be stretching the statement to say it is cold only on hear-say!), though I suspect everyone has been in snow at least once to know it is cold.
Despair - could be anyone also, did share a hair raising ride in the snow - though I suspect it was more sleet/ice that was on the road. Black ice is highly dangerous. Glad not a fender bender or worse!
No clues at this time...no vote yet

I'll have to dissagree with you on death, Randy. I'm not going to assume Death grew up in a snowy area. They could have spent Christmas vacations in a snowy area - and built snow forts, or igloos with a bunch of cousins, siblings, etc. - so, as far as I'm concerned, Death could have visited the snow and had enough time to build a snow fort, or such.
I also agree with 4demo, that Death could be a young adult or older teen.

Maybe it's nothing, but Death refers to playing in the snow as a kid and having snowball fights and building "snow camps." Now, unless that is a relatively new term, when I was young we used to build snow forts, not camps. Could that be a regional term, or a term used in a country other than the US?

I do know that there are a couple "snow camps" around, where people go camping in the winter. People who are crazy, that is.
Perhaps I'm biased by my current circumstances. My dog (see left) would LOVE to go to snow camp. Mind you, every time he goes outside is pretty much snow camp, because the snow in some places is three times as tall as he is! Yowza!
As you can tell from his face, he likes to burrow into it. His fur is long and cottony, though, so he's all over ice pellets after a romp and then has to sit still inside while he waits for it to thaw out so he can bring his forelegs back in line with his body. Imagine a little kid who can't bring his arms down to his side...that's my dog after a prolonged romp in the snow. Hee.

I beg to disagree with you snowy... but it is sort of a mute point... Death said "I love the first snow of the year when all the trees are covered in the white stuff and it is all sparkly" Going to someone's house just on the day that the first snow comes...seems like really good luck. Seems liked it happened more than once in their life .
I say again, it is sort of a mute point, but I wonder why you are making such an argument that it can not be true. We could all argue that none of the clues point to any specific person or region, but that would mean we might as well just toss out ALL clues and just vote people off.
I am starting to think you might be death, or someone trying to defend a wolf and keep clues from meaning anything...

I'm really sad to see Hadleigh gone already. She's a good player which is why the wolves probably took her out.
While I did live in the snow when I was younger, I never built snow camps. In fact, I've never heard of the term snow camp before. The only thing we (my sister and I) did was build snowmen - which I wasn't very good at. We lived in the country and only had four farms on our road and only one of those had one child, so it wasn't much fun with no one to play around with. Mostly it was spent digging our car out and a path to the house.
To me, Despair sounds like an adult who already drives and experienced some type of close accident with a bus while driving. I think how they are wording their answer is somewhat annoying. Myself, I have never driven in the snow since we moved to CA when I was 12.
I tend to agree with Randy about Death. It sounds as if they live/lived where it snows in order to experience the first snow fall because it would be difficult to plan a visit somewhere and manage to be there for the first snow.
Since I am not familiar with snow camps, I looked it up on the net and most hits were to places where one could go and camp or like ski lodges. There were a few hits on snow camps for kids. Most had skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, obstacle course, and cardboard sled races. Not much help since Death's answer was worded more like it was something they did often where they lived; like building a fort. So I have to agree that "snow camps" could be a regional term, or a term used in a country other than the US, as Bobbi stated.
That's about all I've gotten from these answers, so I'll be back in the morning.
SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

I have heard the term snow camp before... Boy Scouts around here go to Snow Camp and build snow caves to sleep in. My brother (who was in scouts) never went on any of these trips, but his troop did. My former roommate now works at a camp up in the mountains and they have "Winter Camp" every year, which is kinda close in name. I, personally, have never slept outside in the winter, seems way to cold. I have, on the other hand, had a hand in building a structure out of snow. I mention this only because of the thought that a snow cave can only be made if you live there.... this structure my cousin, brother and I built 2 years ago when we were up in the mountains for Christmas. We were only there 4 days. Plenty of time to build quite igloo!

Ter: might be young and never been in snow(oh no... this sounds like me...)
Des: might be young, might be a driver. still need to deal with snow roads...
well, i'm not terror...
coz i hate phone....
what is sense??and if i am not making sense, then why i say it?? I SAY IT COZ IT MAKE SENSE TO ME BUT WHY IT DON'T MAKE SENSE TO YOU????????? sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of good points made so far. I have to agree with mst everything said so far.
Death: I would assume they have at least lived in an area that had snow at some point because they say it is not their favorite time of year. I can't see how someone can say that without at least have been in an area that has snow. I assumed snow forts when I read their answer, but there have been a few other ideas pointed out, which all make sense, so it could be any one of them and I agree it doesn't sound like a regional term.
Terror: When I first read their answer it seems they don't lived in an area with snow. We all know everyone here is capable of making their answer look like someone else and this wolf could be trying to make it look like someone who may not live in area with snow, when they actually live in a snowy area.
Despair: My initial reaction to this was that they have actually experienced a close call accident with a bus. However, it doesn't say they were the one actually diving the car almost hit by a bus. They say
One thing we have to remember with this group, since we have played many games together, some have become very creative in their wording to make their answers appear as someone else. Just something we need to keep in mind because I for one tend to forget that and get tunnel vision when reading the answers, which is why I am usually not so lucky in figuring out the wolves.
For me so far, none of the answers jump out as any 1 player. I will wait before voting as we may learn more from the discussions.

. It sounds like they were driving but if you read it closely it could be: the driving car had bad tires on a snow covered road and not them driving the car. Ok, I overlooked the part that death mentions the first snow. This mention does not mean they experience the first snow of the year, every year though. It could be a play with wording. It could be that they have experienced the first snow of the year. . . . . . and it's impressed them enough to mention it here. I also wonder if Death is a male, considering they use the term snow camp. To me, this is a foreign term, so I'm wondering if this player is not from the U.S. Unless, as mentioned by mocha, this player was in scouts, and they built snow forts? I do know that boy scouts camp during the winter here in Ohio. I 'think' they have to in order to get a certain badge. Not sure though. Ben is a Cub Scout, so I'm only hearing bits and pieces about the Boy Scouts.
Randy - I'm only keeping an open mind about Death. They could be playing with the wording to make it sound confusing, as to whether they grew up in a snowy climate or just visited. I think they may be trying to sound female when they say the first snow fall is so sparkly. This is not a word I would use in describing the first snow fall myself. Maybe other women would though. My first reaction was that it was a male, trying to sound feminine.
Terror sounds as if they have only experienced snow from afar. . . . like from a card. To me, they could be any age, at this point.
As far as Despair is concerned, IDK . . . .
Take all sorrow out of life and you take away all richness, and depth, and tenderness. The capacity of sorrow belongs to our grandeur. It is the furnace that melts hearts together in love.

Sorry for not posting sooner been extra busy the last day or so. Anywho I don't really get any vibes from the psychs. Thougg that is no suprise really considering the amount of games some of us have played in togeather. I am becoming more cautious and wiser about who I vote for. Anyway I tend to trust the psychs less and less as games go by. And this game is no acception. I am going to rely on my own gut feeling this game. I just feel it is the right to go this game.
I will be back later to vote.

Don't know if I'll get on much over the weekend. I'm feeling that Death may not be American, and may be a male, so therefore I'm voting for Stewie. I know we have more time left in the game, but I'm going to have a busy weekend, so my vote is getting locked in now. I'm NOT saying I'm convinced Stewie is a wolf, just saying that I"m leaning towards thinking that "death" is a male that lives outside the U.S. That's all.

Certainly not to shoot down anyone's ideas or anything, but after reading through the above posts, I'm starting to wonder if we might be overthinking the "snow camp" reference. I may be wrong of course, but I think it's possible the wolf simply meant building a campsite-like thing using snow. For instance, if I built a tree sculpture out of snow, I could call it a snow tree. I know it may be somewhat of a stretch, but felt I'd toss the idea out there.

I'm not getting male or female for Death, but I do think it's possibly not an American. More like Canadian than Irish, so I don't agree that it could be Stewie.I'm leaning towards Cinnamon, but not enough to place a vote just yet. And I might add, that's good advice there Terror, nobody wants to go and eat any yellow snow.

i reread the answer and now I think snow camp could meant snow fort, for snow fight
and i think despair could be older and had a bad exp. on snow roads with a bus, nearly crush into the bus or the other way round...
no idea as of who to vote for yet...
what is sense??and if i am not making sense, then why i say it?? I SAY IT COZ IT MAKE SENSE TO ME BUT WHY IT DON'T MAKE SENSE TO YOU????????? sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well sorry for being a bit late, just didn't really know what to post about earlier. The new psych answers are all a bit hard to get much from, other than the possibility of certain people who live in a more wintry climate being wolves. Reading through the posts so far I do agree that their is a strong possibility that death is possibly someone younger trying to throw us off by all the references to their youth. I will not be around later tonight because I am going to hang out with some friends so I will submit my vote now. My thoughts on the psych questions last round lead me to vote for shaidar, and I still feel that terror definitely sounds like it could be him, not that I have that strong of evidence, but in this game their often never truly is any, so my vote will be for him.

Bradon, I can see where you may think I am a wolf. I would agree with most everything Death said except the snow camp part. I did grow up in an area with lots of snow, however I did not build a snow camp of any kind. I have never camped outside in the snow either. I don't prefer the cold at all.
As for the other answers, I have only had a driver's license for almost 3 years and I have never had or been in a car accident or even a close call of any kind. I do own a cell phone and it does have some applications on it, none of which I use. My phone is strictly for calls. My husband does text me on occasion, but I always call him as I don't like to text myself. In fact I usually get mad at him when he texts me as I can't type very fast on the darn things and its faster for me to call. My phone is not strictly for emergencies and never has been. When I got my cell phone 8 years or so ago, I got rid of my house phone, therefore I could never say it was for emergencies only. I have never had a snow cone and I don't even know if you can get one around here or where I grew up.
The answers this round still don't point to any one player at this point. I will check back in a few hours and see if anything stands out.

I'm not going to be online for a bit so I'm posting a vote now considering I missed last round. I don't have a great vibe for anyone, but Snow seems to me to sound like she has in other games as a wolf. Except for the one I modded that is. I don't have a strong feeling here. She just seems to have more emotion than logic in her arguments, maybe I'm reading too much into it.
Yep that's it. Reading too much into it. I'm just trying to share my thoughts on what the wolves have written. That's all.
Take all sorrow out of life and you take away all richness, and depth, and tenderness. The capacity of sorrow belongs to our grandeur. It is the furnace that melts hearts together in love.

I just realized something and I'm not sure what the significance, if any, is. Jtolley was randomly picked by the computer to be shot, and the person who voted for him was Hadleigh and Hadleigh was eaten. Could that mean he was a wolf? I know it's getting to be time for me to make a decision as to who to vote for and I still have no real idea. I'm going to probably fish vote again but I'm undecided who that will be. I'll be back before I go to bed.

well I don't like the look the looks of this. Like I stated in my last post. In this particular game I don't think anyone can truly rely on the psychs alone. The wolves can be deceiving. I have seen it time and time again. And those people have regretted it at the end of the game. I am not sure if I am getting a message across. As far as voting goes this round, I don't know who to vote for. I will be fishing randomly though so whoever it is don't take it personally.

I guess I can at least give our Seer a bit more cover and will fish vote for mythmaster. I agree with Stewie, our wolves are very clever and have managed to keep hidden by carefully worded answers. I can only hope the computer passes by the vote for me and picks a wolf instead.

I am voting for Josh. Missing the voting can occur, but a wolf could care less about protecting the seer. It means little, in the long run, but all players should vote every round. I realize RL gets in the way, mine has been super busy lately - but you all signed up to play - so play and vote.

With only a little over 2 hours left to vote, I should also put in a vote to protect our Seer. There really isn't a lot to go on so far, so I'm not strongly suspecting anyone at this point. I'm going to post a fish vote for CW.
SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

Also casting another random vote for protection of our Seer. Like everyone else, I haven't formulated any suspicions based on the psych answers, so I used the random number generator again, although it took 10 tries to get a suitable number since I kept getting numbers for people who already had received a vote and I didn't want to form any majorities at this stage.
