Who's The Boss
Game #2912: Power Tower, Incorporated (beta)
This game is moderated by Estam. Please read the rules and contact the moderator with any questions or concerns about this game.
This game finished in 4 rounds.
Welcome.
Generally and basically, this is a quick trial game for the real game I'm trying to create using WTB rules.
I haven't been a moderator in WTB so, to have a better grasps of things, I created this game. And, since it doesn't need to be a long game and just to test the waters, this one's just for 10 players with (much) simpler rules.
Hopefully, this beta game would go as I assumed the rules and mechanics to be from experience as a player.
So here are the basic rules.
The goal is the same: Identify the Boss.
To help you achieve the goal (well, hopefully they'll help you), there are 2 PROFESSIONALS you may ask for assistance: 1 HACKER and 1 JOURNALIST.
The HACKER is one of the Employees selected at random. That means one of the 8 Employees gets to be the PROFESSIONAL HACKER. (The Employee selected as HACKER will be informed through private message.) The HACKER can hack into the network and see whom a particular Player voted for. However, since the HACKER is one of the Employees, the HACKER may only be able to hack the network as long as employed.
The JOURNALIST is a third-party professional and is not a Player/Employee of the corporation. A Player may hire a JOURNALIST during any round to ask psych question(s) for the following round. Since the Boss does not have all the time to accommodate several JOURNALISTS, only the first Player to hire a JOURNALIST would be entertained to ask question(s).
However, hacking and hiring do not happen freely. They cost influence.
This is where Players need INFLUENCE POINTS.
This is Power Tower, Inc. where influence is power, and power is everything!
Yet how destructive is power without control?
This is where your wits come into play.
Each and every round, through private message from the moderator, each Player will be given a list of Players that need to vote for him/her. Yes, a list of who should vote for you. Simply put it, you as a Player should devise a way for specific Players to vote for you. This is how you earn INFLUENCE POINTS. This is also how you may lose them. Because included in the list is a Player who should not vote for you.
Your list would more or less look like this:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Your target voters for Round 1:
Player_Alice (+2)
Player_Bob (+1)
Player_Charlie (-1)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Hence, if Player_Alice votes for you, you get additional 2 POINTS to your INFLUENCE,
but if Player_Charlie votes for you, you get a deduction of 1 I-Point.
(Note, this is the effect of them voting for you, if they did not vote for you then nothing happens to your Points.)
Each and every Player starts the game with 0 I-Point and accumulates I-Points along the game. The update on a Player's I-Points would be sent after the voting deadline and through private message only to the Player and would not be posted publicly in the game posts.
Since the Boss and the Rat do not get to "really" vote, they cast their votes through private message to the moderator stating "VOTE [name of Player]". In case of multiple vote messages sent, the last vote message will be considered as final as long as it is received by the moderator before the voting deadline. Obviously, this implies that the Boss and the Rat may also earn, lose, and/or use their I-Points.
The use of I-Points are as follows:
1.) The HACKER can hack for 1 I-Point.
2.) A Player may hire the HACKER for at least 2 I-Points. (1 Point to hack the network, the other 1 Point is earned by the HACKER)
3.) A Player may hire a JOURNALIST for 2 I-Points per question.
Further details, especially regarding the PROFESSIONALS and use of Points, will be discussed during the following round, unless accepted urgent and important to be explained in this post.

Clarification with definition of terms:
Player means a person signed up to play in this game
Players means all the persons signed up to play in this game and would usually (though not always) pertain to only those involve in the current round
Employee means a Player who is not the Boss or the Rat
I-Point or Point means Influence Point.

Love it.
Flight Rising is great and all, but I've been on a year and I still don't understand how people manage such gorgeous dragons.

Hi, 30angel.

Wow. Sounds like an interesting spin you've placed on the WTB model. I'd love to help you test it out.
A game while we wait would be fun too!

But I don't know any. -_- I just thought I'd ask. It's usually during these waiting times that I hope I could play an even quicker game of WTB or WWG. -_-

Hmmm...I'm still thinking of other professionals for the real game. Could you help me out?
Tell me "realistic" (as in possible and "in theme" to WTB) PROFESSIONALS that can be included here and explain their skills.

Well, the very first thing I really REALLY HOPE would be according to my plan (yes, I've got to admit, this is one thing the great mechanics of this game really REALLY relies on) is...
...if the moderator could see who everyone voted for.
Please tell me I would be able to see the voting list. *fingers crossed* 0_0

I'm really not sure on that, having not moderated a game before. I hope it works though, sounds great!
Ill give it a go....

I found a wiki of braingle. Though the contents are not that rich, it mentions:
Every game has a moderator, or mod for short. The mod can see who voted for who, who the boss and rat are, and who is on the firing list. The mod has the ability to fire any employee for violating rules, or any other reason. The moderator is in charge of anything that happens in the game, clues etc.

3 more and we can get started.

This is an amazing idea that I would love to help test it with all of you guys I am new to Braingle though, but I do think I have the rules down for WTB. I do have one question- I don't really get what the Journalist does, could you please explain it more? But happy New Years all

Wow, that filled up faster than I expected.
So now I suppose we're waiting for the Boss' memo etc? And also our "targets" that we need to get to vote for us?
