Who's The Boss
Game #3108: Who's the Boss
This private game is moderated by RGW4. Please read the rules and contact the moderator with any questions or concerns about this game.
This game finished in 6 rounds.
Basic game... basic rules.
After round 3... there may be an obscure clue about the boss... if everyone is on a different page. If you do not see a clue, it may just be because I am brain dead and unable to come up with something obscure by then... OR, the players may be on the right track and just need to think the game out. I highly doubt I would give an answer to which way the game is going by then... it would not be fair to the boss - would it?
I have always wanted to moderate one Boss game... so friends, join me on this adventure!

Thanks for the invite Randy. I had been sitting in a game waiting for it to start for almost a month now.... yours is the first game that was worth leaving it for.
I can't see it starting before this one is done.
Maybe the dog only brings the ball back because he thinks you like throwing it.

Hi everyone! I wouldn't miss playing a game that is Randy's first one moderating and that has great players so far!
SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

Great to see you all here. I normally like to play boss; but I sure would like to see what it looks like from this side at least once! I promise no curve balls...

I think your fist game as a moderator you should stick to a basic game.
You need to learn all the ins and outs of modding before you try to veer from the norm.
Sometimes I enjoy a basic game, both as a player and as a moderator. IT is a lot more work to run a themed game.

I had no plan for a themed game... there have been a few that I couldn't come close to.
The Spy series... Murder She Wrote series... Pirate series... all great theme games.
I said no curve balls because once when I modded a Wolf game, I told everyone I would give "someone" a single round seer function. In other words, when the round started, I would PM the "winner" of the seer function and they could ask about any one player, still in the game or not (this is before it became sort of customery for the mod to do this). There were simple rules for this, with one beiing you could not disclose that you were the one who won the "contest" until near the end of the game... in any case, it was a curve ball, though I answered all inquiries correctly. The humans all got one player to know who they were... and frankly, I don't even remember who won that - the humans or the wolves. It was with the Reunion group that used to play these games.

Only for you, Randy, would I join a boss game 4 days before going back to work and adding yet another layer to my redefined life. Should make you feel special because, well, you are.

I know I have missed you on here too Mocha! A special thanks Mocha for joining, I know getting ready to go back to the world of teaching after having a few months to bond with your new beautiful baby boy is something that you are probably not looking forward to as much as in the past.
I sure hope the other spots can fill quickly... great group so far!

It always shocks me how little time Americans get off after having a baby. We get a full year off, though at a reduced rate of pay, during which our job is guaranteed. Either parent can take it, or they can split it in any way they want.
Congrats on the baby btw.

Oh, why not? I haven't played (or moderated) one of these for over six years. And just saying that says something. Oh, maybe someday.
Out of respect for the intended simplicity of this game, I will not simply assume I can go talking "pirate speech" as I'm accustomed to doing in my own games. Let's have fun.
I will now resume lurking silently.

Arrrr Radio... me be a thinkin' I be a lovin' ya to be a joining me matey!... "pirate speech" tis be fine... though this game has no theme but "fun"... and isn't pirate talk fun!
Habs... this is a fairly new addition to the work place - extended time off with pay. In the not too distant past, the new mother had XXX time off to recover, then it was either back to work or hit the roads. Then they gave mothers a bit more time off, and it seems to me it was either late 90's, early 00's that husbands had a chance for some time off. I admit, after 2005 and my exit from a desk job... I lost all contact with how maternity leave works... maybe Mocha will enlighten us on the "rules"... though as a teacher, they seem to have a different health plan than most of the rest of us.

Looks like history in the making, and I do like history!
It is funny, I was watching something on this the other day; how little time Americans are given off vs most of the rest of the first world.
Are fathers entitled to time off too, or just the mother? I have a friend who took six months off, then her husband took 6. This gave them both a chance to bond with the baby one on one with both of them taking on the primary role.
If your job cannot be put on hold and is no longer available when you get back, they have to find you new duties at the same, or greater rate of pay.
You also have full benefits while on leave.

I too am a history buff... though most of it concerning the US. Civil War era is probably my most enjoyable period to study. Thanks for joining Gizzer!

Thanks, HABS, hi Giz, hi Radio! Great to see some old faces!
The family medical leave act allows new parents to take up to 12 weeks with no pay with the guarantee that your job (or an equivalent) will be waiting for you when you return. That is the only law in the US.
My school district's union has bargained "maternity leave" as 6 weeks for normal birth (EDIT: Braingle didn't like me using the v word here), 8 for c-section, paid out of your sick leave, starting the day the baby is born. "Paternity leave" is available for 4 weeks leave, any time during the first year after birth.
I had a unique situation in that, because my baby was born in the middle of the summer, my maternity leave ended before school started. I was able to get a note from my dr. to have an "extended medical leave" for the past 6 weeks since I had the leave saved up anyway. My husband, also a teacher, will start his paternity leave on Monday. His district has different rules for maternity leave, it varies quite a bit by district and has to do with the bargained contract and not medical plans.

Only 12 weeks? And no pay? Wow, glad I live here
In addition to maternity/paternity leave we also have separate leave called "Family Caregiver Leave" ; "Sick Child Leave" ; "Personal Emergency Leave" as well as special extended leaves for the death or disappearance of a child. Most of these leaves are unpaid (at least there is no government contribution to them). Your employer does have to guaranty your job for the length of the leave though.

Could you not have started your leave once school went back, since you are off for the summer anyway? OR do you have to take the leave when the baby is born?

He is. I don't normally play more than one game at a time. So I had really good timing on being shot.
Hi scrub!
Take all sorrow out of life and you take away all richness, and depth, and tenderness. The capacity of sorrow belongs to our grandeur. It is the furnace that melts hearts together in love.

Ok gang... the game has started... but I will wait until tomorrow (ok, as far as Braingle is concerned, my tomorrow is today) to send out the info to the boss. Watch for a start later today or tomorrow as we get going! This should give everyone a fair warning that we are about to start!

Evening's not the best time to start a game. . . . . and besides, I'm not getting any younger. . . The grey hairs are appearing before my eyes. . . . .
Oh, and HI Scrubb!
