Hello everyone! Yay for a Shadows game!
Haven't played WTB in ages so I might be a bit rusty.
EDIT: Okay, I'm going to lock a vote in for Skybet right now. I could see him writing that memo. As for the clue, a four made of hashtags and periods...

GA do you really think I would prattle on about the virtues of microwaved bacon? well... Maybe you're right.
I'm going to stick in a safety for J-Boy. Looking down the list he seems most likely to me.
I will have another look at the clue later when I've woken up a bit.

Hahaha... My father cooks the bacon in the oven and it comes out great.
I'll throw out a safety for Yuffie, just because I've never played with them, so I don't really know anything about their style or interests.

I'm logging my first vote for limerick. This is mostly a random vote under the idea that at least I know he cooks for himself.

I'm probably thinking a little too mundanely, but the clue looks like a day on a calendar maybe? Softball's birthday is on the 4th so perhaps she is the clear? I will await someone with any better ideas.

since shady has shady has indicated she thinks the clue will be too hard, it seems too obvious for the clue to represent Randy (RGW4)

The zeros most likely have something to do with it, and I doubt the clue would point to me in that way... Hmmm.
There is a TH so I am inclined to think it is the 4th of something, not just 4. But, Shady also said it was difficult, so the TH could be something else to throw us off and think it's 4th. Maybe they are initials?

Nice catch, Elios.
Hmm. Well, as Sky says, the clue at the top does resemble a calendar date. But the 29 thing makes me think of the days in a month (leap year?) or holidays or moon phases. The riddling clue lists six units and cannot be letters, I suppose, if they must be converted. I will try to research into some stuff.
I'll tentatively put out a vote for Froggy.
Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?

tutu, hahaha Poor tukus... *hides*
Hmm, I am leaning to some sort of braingle competition for the clue, fourth place maybe? Fourth game? That would certainly qualify as hard to figure out... Also, if that is the case, Shady would also be in position to know from audition pms from people who weren't already her friend.. 4th to post in round 0... I'll have to look at some of these later when on an ipad rather than a computer.., but as this is a clearing clue anyway, no real urgency.. For now, my vote goes to GA as I know from my previous game that he has a program at work that can cause him to be all caps, now, that's weak and probably meaningless, but I'll be keeping my eyes open throughout the round though I am at work for the next 11 hours, not sure when I will be posting..

Gosh. I'm clueless about the clue. Digging deeper might just result in bruised hands, for now.
The psych answer strikes me as odd. As a person who has cooked bacon (but none too frequently) I would have thought that the pan seemed the most obvious method. I agree about the messiness of the oven method, but I wonder if the psych means using pre-cooked bacon to just microwave or cooking it in the microwave. The former makes me think of someone younger who doesn't want to hassle with cooking, while the latter just seems odd to me, though I'm no cook, so I guess cooking in the microwave can happen. From that little information, I'll change my vote to Stewie.

Ah, but of course Elios would remember my fondness for white text and editing past posts.
Hey y'all. Looks like we've started! I will place a vote for caberet. I've missed saying that lol. Gonna start working on the clue as well.

*does not eat bacon or pork of any kind* I don't know if mocha or Limer remembers, but we've discussed this before.
Also, am I tutu? xD xD xD
And I see your logic, Mocha. Limer and I often talk about cooking and have exchanged recipes in the past. And judging by his mac 'n' cheese recipe, he does like things quite simple... so a messy bacon experience that is more difficult than frying it might annoy him.
I haven't decided who I am going to vote for though, I'll let you know when I do.

I'll put in a safety vote for softball right now... having minor computer problem I need to deal with.
Edit... and just because it seemed strange... I have never heard of cooking bacon in the oven, only in a pan or nuked... though I prefer the pan, especially on a campout.

well it looks like both 4 and 29 refer to the posts where Elios found the hidden text from round 0. 29 was in the 4th post and the riddle deal was found in the 29th post. lol yes I counted them. As for the riddle itself, I'm stumped. Gonna keep trying though.

Yay for freakshow's Round 1 vote for me. All is good in the Universe...
It's overly simplistic, but I wondered if the clue might not point to froggyygg who's 4th on the list?
Safety for LR because his post reminded me of when he was a baddie in a long ago game. (When he was protecting yours truly!)

I haven't even begun to look at the clue other than to see that 4th seems to jump out more than anything. That said, 4th what? I need to do a bit of pondering and searching on this one.
For now a safety vote for Mocha since no one has voted for her yet.
Edit: By the way, I actually prefer cooking bacon in the oven on a cookie sheet because it is not messy at all if you cook it at 350 degrees. Doesn't splash much at all and all you have is the cookie sheet to clean - no need to even flip the bacon over since it cooks on both sides at the same time!
So, who here use the word "booger"? Maybe a search will show something...

I applaud you, Elios and freakshow. It seems as though the clues do not go together, but point to the stanza Shadows hid in Stewie's song?
[I'm sorry I have not been on. I had a suptise phonecall from some friends and we emded up having a great day on the beach. I am also a little busy now, so before I do anything I will just put a safety put for the moment.

Hmm. I'd quite like to agree with Freak about the 4/29, thing, as at least then we'd have less to work on. Unfortunately, the clue is still rough. And if it's something related to mathematics, doubly so. I shall wait for better ideas than mine.

You'll find my first in the evening but not at night.
My second shuns the darkness but emerges in the light.
My next four, put together, do not describe myself at all.
Convert me to a letter. (Guess what? "All" rhymes with "tall"!)
Your clue is the letter before it.
The first two lines seem like a teaser construction. First line could mean that only the letter E or V would work since all the other letters in the first line would cancel each other out. (evening/night)
The second line leaves L, I, G, H, or T as the possible second letter. (darkness/light)
The third and fourth lines seem to go together since the word "all" is used in both. Maybe the reference to "next four" refers to converting the number 4 to a letter which would be D and the letter before that is C.
No player in this game begins with the letter V and only Elios begins with an E. The second clue could be the L which is the second letter of Elios. That said, I have no idea how the last two clues would work with Elios.
Oh, a quick search of the forums didn't result in anyone using the word boogers either.
Edit: Had somehow thought the second clue was darkness/night instead of darkness/light. Fixed errors.

I have never heard of people cooking bacon in the microwave or the oven... we cook it on the stove in a pan in NZ.
Also, what are you on about Limerick? I don't have a job in the first place, and I have a caps lock button but so does everybody else?

Ah, eleven, which gives us "K"? Froggy seems quite right about the first two lines. I was thinking of Roman Numerals but then I tried "E" and "L" making the next four form a number. I think it might make "eleven" which is not "even" but rather odd. K is the 11th letter in the alphabet. Ah, and of course, the letter that comes before K. Who it clears should be crystal.

Wow, way to go Froggy and LR! After reading Froggy's post I had some thoughts as to where I wanted to go with it in my mind, but then I kept reading to find LR had already solved it! Fantastic!
So, now comes the issue that we want to allow him to not be fired. In a game I was in a few times ago, we were also in a similar situation in the first round with 2 cleared players. A MoO vote will not protect them. So we actually formed majorities of two (MoT vote?) which allowed our cleared players to only vote for one person, and keeping the chances of any one player being picked off at being completely random (thus no one has to stick their neck out on the line in order to protect someone else). What do we think of pairing up?
Or, do we want to try to put someone in a hard majority first round, again, with keeping our cleared player out of that majority? If we all voted the same person (except that person, of course, and the cleared person), we would all be equally likely to be fired, and would get a clear out of the way that would be 100% rat proof.
What do people think? I'm willing to go either way, but I do think we need to avoid a MoO vote because we will lose our cleared player.

Wow, great job everyone! I'm so sorry I wasn't more active - I finally had a productive weekend away from the computer
I guess right now everyone is voting randomly so I will vote for GA since no one has yet, but I'm always up for a clearing-majority. (I doubt we'll get one this round though w/ only 6hrs left)
And just for conversation, I've only ever microwaved bacon. I guess I was aware you could put them in the oven but I don't see the point since the microwave is so much more convenient

Well, in order to protect our cleared player, I'm going to change my vote to GA since yuffie seemed to be willing to enter into a majority. I'd suggest everyone pick someone to pair up with.
I almost forgot to say, yes, tuku did say in a conversation with Limerick and I almost two months ago that she does not eat pork. I would be shocked if she were the boss because of this.
As for me, I cook my bacon in a frying pan, but I have heard of it both in the microwave and oven. I've never tried either one, but it seems to work well. I like my bacon really crispy, and whenever I have had it prepared for me in the oven (like at camp being mass produced for large crowds) it is not crispy enough.
EDIT: I've confirmed my switch to GA

Haha, forget it, I was thinking of Longhorn for some reason, sorry, GA. I have to agree, eleven is not even, so, it all works, the fact that it comes out as J (are you guys deliberately being coy with the clear? xD).
I now stay J-Boy is CLEAR.
As far as bacon, nooooo, I have never even heard of cooking bacon in an oven and am not a huge fan of bacon. I have never actually cooked it myself. When I make anything, it would be sausage. For me, bacon has such a fine sweet-spot that it is really never met, it is either too crunchy or not enough, probably had good bacon once.
/me does find the logic tukus used to clear me funny, accurate, but funny.
Also mochs, you are now in a TRIO not a duo =p
I'm staying out of any majority though.
Switching my vote to the ever helpful Elios.

I did not see that Limerick had voted, thanks GA and Limerick.
I know I was not saying it because they were not protected.
And, as for tuku's logic in clearing you, I would say in the oven might be easier than in a pan, so I don't buy that you are cleared, Limerick.

Yes I agree that J-Boy is cleared. Toying with the idea of switching to GA for a potential clear...
I think I will.

I'm gonna keep my vote where it is for two reasons. One it wouldn't feel right for me to not vote for cab, and two I'm usually fired when I do majorities in round 1, so I tend to stay away from them. I'm all for it after this round though if I feel it's worth the risk of getting fired c!:,)
Shoot me I'm probably a wolf. Especially if caberet is the Mod.

I'm still trying to figure how you came up with 11 in the clue... oh well
BTW... I am confirming my vote for softball.
And Stewie... this is not wolf... if you have a safety vote, at least state who your vote is for... please.

Ok, since we don't have a firm majority, I think it would be best to have two pairs than one with only three where it is almost guaranteed that we will all be fired. So, I'm going to switch my vote to Randy (RGW) since tuku seemed willing to be put in a majority as well.
Sorry I keep changing so much. Like all of you, I have no clue who to vote for, but I'm trying to put myself in the best position for us to find something out. I know it puts me in a likely spot to be fired, but if we are going to lose someone, I'd like to learn something in the process.
Randy, the first line is either E or V, we end up selecting the E. The second line indicated L, I, G, H, T, we picked L. Then it said the next four letters combined to make a number, so EL _ _ _ _ fills in with EVAN. This makes 11. But the line says these four letters "are not what I am", and 11 is not "evan". I hope that helped.

Yes, that does make sense - thank you - never saw EVEN in the statement, so I guess that part was not Crystal (clear).
Now I really do not mind a majority on me, however, as I always say in these games, a two person vote does not mean I or anyone else is really clear. Who knows, Mocha could be the rat and Skybet the boss, which means we still have a Mo0. A 4 person vote is always better, but hard to get in the first couple rounds. In any case - good luck.

Wow, how embarrassing. Especially since that is a mistake I have struggled with spelling in the past.
Thanks for the well wishes!

And as for bacon, I cook it on the stove top in a pan, or in a microwave as I only cook a couple strips at a time.
Edit for early-morning, pre-coffee grammar.

Also, am I tutu? xD xD xD
Oh my gosh, tuku!! I am SO sorry!! That was a case of brain overriding hands - autopilot took over on me. I do know your user name is tuku and not tutu, and I meant no disrespect.Great job with the clue!

I feel like we didn't get enough votes on GA to firmly clear him. Nonetheless, great job on the clue.
As for the bacon thing, I've never cooked it myself... My father always does it when he makes omlets or what have you for dinner...

Haha, I think you made tutu's day with that, so no worries :p
Some thoughts...
Tuku indeed does not eat pork, however, the problem I have is that the memo has nothing to do with eating it... Potentially a deliberate tangent to put off suspicion... She doesn't even touch on the cooking side... Also, the memo does seem in line with with her misdirection.. I can see her easily using "booger" as an offput...
My Preliminary List of Lesser Suspicions (Potential Clears)
1) Froggy, the detailed description of her preference for oven bacon does not seem likely to be forged, medium clear
2) Elios, your mileage may vary, but, I buy his statement on reasonings towards cooking a couple strips, not because it is so strong, as I imagine you could cook in an oven even for a few strips, but, it rings true, slight clear
3) Mocha, I buy her statement on not cooking in the oven or microwave (side note, how can bacon even get crispy in the microwave, it seems counterintuitive, but is mentioned in the memo, I cook almost nothing in the microwave other than liquids and classic microwave foods, I rarely use the oven mostly due to the inability of my pilot light to stay active. This has reduced the fore mentioned Mac and Cheese unfortunately, but it seems like the oven would be the best crisper....), stronger clear
4) Yuffie, I buy the "I guess I was aware..", this is a stronger clear for me
5) GA, although I think it is a bit strong to claim for the whole country, I buy his disclaimer of using an oven, medium
6) RGW, again, I buy the claim to not have heard of oven cooking, though, as I write this, I am aware we have to be careful of some inventive cook who decided to try the oven not having heard of it.
7) jboy, clear by the clue
I also am of course aware that people can lie in the round answers, but, I am fairly confident on my reading of that.
More later, but I think we are in fairly good shape so far. Not sure how much we will get off this round's firings, but we shall see soon enough. My leaning towards tuku makes me uncomfortable though... Either Yuffie or Skybet being the rat could leave us with a MoO : p

Aside from Stewie's unfortunately unstated vote, I think the voting seems good enough to get some conclusions from. Of course, if two players, one from each of the two tied votes, turns out to be lying, then we might have a MoO and the boss could arrange to make someone look guilty. But, we can look at that next round to see what's up.
Frankly, unless on better evidence than what we say in here, I'm not sure how helpful the psych answer will be for either finding or clearing the boss. I mean, I can say I've never cooked bacon in the microwave in my life, but it adds up to my word alone. I'm not sure how kosher it is to do so, but if I said that out of the game, then I'd like the evidence more. It is interesting the boss decided to say something about cooking, given more or less free range on topics to choose from. The boss must live a charmed life if the second worst decision they've made is having some messy bacon.
Should we try for a majority next round?
Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?

The voting round has ended. Nothing for us to do but wait for the boss and mod to do their things.
Loving the nice, active postings. I have to work awfully early, so I usually never get to post until after returning home.
I agree with LR that the boss sounds like s/he lives a charmed life...

The problem with Stewie's undisclosed vote, is that he could have voted for someone who someone else voted for... thus making 6 players on the potential chopping block - 2 each on three different players. It is probably one of the worst things a player can do to vote and not disclose... it gives the boss an easy out and suspicions all around. Everyone should pay heed to following through with disclosures... and let round one be somewhat questionable (hopefully people who stated they were in a majority are fired [sorry to those players, but it is why you took the majority at this time])

Yeah not knowing who he voted for really bothers me. Not sure how well we will be able to clear people. Guess all we can do is wait and see.
